Ever tired of the city? The mountain of Montserrat is roughly one hour train ride away from Barcelona (trains from Plaza España). Good for hiking and visiting the famous monastery of Montserrat including the black virgin Madonna!

we are getting there… quite good weather on Sunday drew people to the beaches of Barcelona. The beach-kiosks “Chiringuitos” were busy and a few people already dared to jump into the Mediterranean Sea.

Sunny, but still a bit fresh these days. Lets hope the summer is coming soon. A Catalan saying goes “pel Maig, cada dia un raig” (in may, it rains everyday a little).

Thinking what to do on a Sunday afternoon? Go into the “Parque de la Ciutadella” where everybody is hanging out, playing games, taking the sun, having beers or playing drums.
Beeing the only big park in the center of Barcelona it gets quite lively on a weekend and is a good place to visit and relax.

The post offices in Spain are called “correos” (www.correos.es). In case you want to send a letter or a postcard you can buy stamps in any tobacco store and just dump it into one of these yellow mail boxes. (Don’t use the green one, that is for the posts own use)
